I know that soccer (UK football) is a much, much older game then American football. I am wondering why both Americans and Europeans lay claim to the word “football”- and for different games! (Not to mention, American football has a lot less to do with feet than European football).

I wanna know at least the good players though.. like.. if you could give player parallelisms, who would be american football's Lebron James (young forward who's an unstoppable freak of nature), Kobe Bryant (guard who seems he can do it all), Shaquille O'neal (BIG guy; nothing but power), and Michael Jordan (legendary)?
