Does the casual wrestling fan care more about Characters and good storylines then wresling itself?

People say they dont watch TNA because they have poor gimmicks and poor storylines. They don’t care that they bring better wrestling to the ring.
And i often see people talking about storylines after a ppv. They don’t really talk about what was the best wrestling match etc.
So do wrestling fans today care more about storylines and gimmicks then wrestling itself?

Do you?

If the sport of wrestling relied simply on the talent of the wrestlers it would go tragically down in flames. There has to be some sort of storyline or substance to get the people involved. Otherwise, it's not much different from a couple of men grappling in front of a midnight campfire.
